Measuring Nipples for Pump Flanges

Did you know your pump is going to come with two pre-selected flanges sizes? And did you know that neither one is likely to be your size?

Annoying, right?

Your pump will likely come with a 24mm and 27mm or 28mm. The average size of actual people is 17mm. So if you’re using the standard size that came with your pump and pumping hurts, isn’t producing much, or you need to turn it up to the highest suction setting then you’re probably not using the right size flange.

Print the measuring tool pdf or collect the following items; a quarter, a dime, AA battery

You’ll need to measure both nipples because they aren’t necessarily the same size. Sisters, not identical twins if you know what I mean.

Still having trouble deciding which size flange is right for you? Book a flange fitting appointment and let’s figure it out together.

Flange fitting appointments are $40 and usually 15 minutes with time for questions at the end. This is not a breastfeeding assessment or a full pumping assessment with plan for when and how often to pump. If you need that, please reach out. We can work together to get you on the right track!
